Unemployed Swapnil Lonakar committed suicide as he could not get a job in the State Public Service Commission. After the incident, leaders of various political parties and social activists are visiting the family of Swapnil Lonakar in Kedgaon in Daund taluka. Daund MLA Rahul Kul recently visited the Lonakar family and consoled them.
After passing the Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) exam, Swapnil took the extreme step of committing suicide due to frustration of not being appointed for 2 years. This is a very unfortunate and depressing incident and we have released a bright, budding young man who has become a dream victim of the misfortune of the government and the chaos of the concerned system and has caused irreparable loss to the Lonakar family.
Thousands of poor youth in the state have been preparing for the State Public Service Commission examinations for years with great difficulty, perseverance and endless difficulties. It is a matter of great regret that despite getting success in these examinations, appointments have not been made for years.
Opposition leader Devendraji Fadnavis and former minister Sudhir Mungantiwar have raised the issue of stalled appointments in the Assembly. The government has demanded financial assistance for Swapnil’s family. We have also written to the concerned Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister and the government will pursue Swapnil’s family for government assistance, MLA Kul told Lonakar’s family.
