Today’s war was deadly for children. Two children, a two-year-old boy and a four-year-old girl, drowned in the early hours of the morning in Baramati taluka. In Pandharpur taluka, two persons drowned in Bhima river yesterday and their bodies were found by the police today.
On the other hand, 12-year-old Jay Jadhav and Payal Londhe from Kasegaon in Chincholi Bhose in Pandharpur taluka drowned in a river yesterday. Jay, a 12-year-old boy, was swept away by a stream of water when his aunt Payal and a woman tried to save him. But both of them drowned in the river. The locals managed to save the other woman. Police and locals found the bodies of the two on Saturday.
His two daughters had gone for a swim in the river with Shivaji Tanwade from Lavangi village. He was accompanied by his 11-year-old cousin and 9-year-old cousin who went for a swim. Initially, Shivaji Tanwade’s daughter and brother-in-law both went into the water. But due to the high flow of water, the two of them became attracted to water. However, Shivaji Tanwade tried to bring them to the river bank. But they were carried away and by then another daughter of Tanwade and his sister’s daughter were also carried away.
